# Layout Recommendation — Collapse Bar + Schedule Alignment

## Verdict

Yes, on **desktop** the expand/collapse anchor would likely work better **above the divider line** or integrated more tightly into the summary block.

No, I would **not force the same treatment on mobile**.

## Why

The current placement creates an extra spacer band between:

* summary block
* expand/collapse anchor
* detailed content

That costs vertical space and makes the card feel slightly taller than necessary before the real detail content begins.

## Recommendation

### Desktop

* move `Respond / View Details / Collapse` up
* integrate it with the summary block boundary
* reduce the dead band before details begin
* keep the action obvious but visually tighter

### Mobile

* preserve clarity and tap target size first
* do not bury the expand/collapse action too close to dense summary content
* tighten spacing, but keep the interaction unmistakable

## Schedule block recommendation

Yes — the schedule controls should feel more strictly aligned.

### Current issue

Even though the block is much better now, it still does not read as one fully disciplined grid.

### Desired system

* same left edge for controls
* same right edge for controls
* same width where possible
* same visual height language for dropdowns, pills, and ghost buttons
* same vertical rhythm between rows
* make the whole block read like one orderly operations panel

## Design target

The schedule area should feel:

* precise
* calm
* premium
* easy to scan
* visually intentional

## Best implementation rule

Use **breakpoint-specific treatment**:

* desktop = tighter and more compact
* mobile = clearer and more tappable

That is the correct trade-off.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://t420.gitbook.io/t420/layout-recommendation-open-collapse-schedule.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
